Meet the Career Services Staff
Terry L. Bankston, Executive Director
Originally from Dayton, Ohio, Mr. Bankston brings over 40 years of experience in sales, marketing, corporate management, non-profit executive leadership, entrepreneurship, and higher education career development leadership to Delaware State University. He is graduate of the University of Cincinnati where he was a student leader, played basketball and was initiated into Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated (Beta Eta Chapter). Mr. Bankston works with an outstanding Career Pathways Team that establishes strategic employer relationships, event planning, campus relationships and continuing to keep our students in the center of every discussion. He enjoys photography, traveling, basketball (coaching/spectator) and above all spending time with family & friends. He is the proud father of 2 sons, Miles (Arianna) and Kyle, and a granddaughter, Jayden Rose
Jacqueline C. Hendy, Operations Administrator
Jacqueline Hendy joined Delaware State University in March 2016 and has over 20 years of vast customer service in major companies, such as Moody’s Investors, Verizon Corporation, and American Express. Jacqueline was born and raised in Gastonia, North Carolina but was reared and educated in New York City. She earned her Bachelors of Business Administration in Marketing from Bernard Baruch College in 1998. Prior to joining Delaware State University, Mrs. Hendy worked as a front desk receptionist for Pure Wellness Chiropractor and a Lounge Host for Dover Downs Hotel & Casino. She relocated from New York to Delaware in 2008 with her husband and 2 children.
Asya Jones, Career Pathways Specialist
Asya Jones is a creative communicator and career development professional with a passion for helping students level up personally and professionally. At Delaware State University, she works closely with students, alumni, and employer partners to connect career education with real-world opportunities. From content creation and branding to event planning and student engagement, she brings a hands-on, collaborative approach to everything she does.
With experience in communications strategy, marketing, and partnership development, Ms. Asya focuses on making career resources accessible, engaging, and relevant, especially for students who are underrepresented. She has a background in coordinating programs that build confidence, professional skills, and networking connections for students at all stages of their career journey.
Holding her Bachelor’s in Mass Communication from Delaware State University. Currently pursuing her MBA, Ms. Asya is expanding her expertise in business leadership, brand strategy, and innovation to better serve students and campus initiatives.
Ms. Jones is the bridge to the next generation of students and is the in-office advocate for student engagement and professional development.
Christian Mills, Career Coach
is a strategic and innovative thinker with experience in project management, education, and relationship management. She is passionate about serving underserved populations and positioning them for success. Ms. Mills has worked with K-12 students, traditional college students, and adult learners, and is committed to ensuring students have the information and access they need to be their version of successful.
She is excited to join the Hornet family and is looking forward to serving DSU students in their career journeys.
Christian received her B.A. in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Delaware, and her M.Ed. in Educational Studies with a Special Education concentration from Wilmington University.
Alexxis Sanchious, Internship Coordinator
Alexxis Sanchious is a proud alumna of Delaware State University, now serving as the Internship Coordinator within the Office of Career Services. In this role, she supports students in discovering and securing impactful internship opportunities that align with their academic paths and long-term career goals.
As a Hornet through and through, Alexxis brings a unique, student-centered perspective to her work—combining her own experiences as a DSU graduate with a deep understanding of today’s evolving workforce. She works collaboratively with employers, faculty, and campus partners to expand access to internships and professional development programming across all disciplines.
With a background in public relations, digital strategy, and higher education, Alexxis blends creativity, structure, and intentionality into every initiative she leads. Her areas of focus include employer engagement, experiential learning, and student career readiness. Through workshops and strategic programming, she is committed to preparing DSU students to navigate their next chapter with confidence and purpose.
Alexxis is passionate about creating equitable career pathways and empowering students—especially those from historically underserved communities—to realize their full potential. As an alumna, her mission is not only professional—it’s personal.
